Beyond the UK

European University Applications

World-class degrees taught in English, a short flight from home.

Hundreds of European universities now teach full bachelor’s degrees in English. The systems are unfamiliar, the deadlines fall earlier than UCAS, and several of the best courses run their own tests and interviews. We guide you through destination choice, applications and selection, in parallel with a UK application or on its own.

Where

Destinations we know well:

The Netherlands

Featured

The deepest English-taught catalogue in Europe, from Amsterdam and Leiden to Delft and Maastricht. Applications run through the national Studielink portal. Selective (numerus fixus) courses close on 15 January; most others close in spring, earlier if you need a visa. We manage the whole process, including selection rounds.

Ireland

Common Travel Area

For UK students, the strongest fee story in Europe. Under the Common Travel Area, UK nationals who qualify pay no tuition fees at Irish universities, only the student contribution of 2,500 euros a year. One CAO application covers Trinity College Dublin, UCD and every other Irish university, with offers made on a points system we help you plan for.

Bocconi, Milan

Italy

Italy’s leading university for economics, finance and management, taught in English. Bocconi runs its own application sessions from September of Year 13/Grade 12, selecting on school grades plus its own test or the SAT. Early application matters; we prepare both the test and the file.

IE University and ESADE

Spain

Private, fully English-taught and admissions-test driven. IE (Madrid and Segovia) runs rolling admissions with the IE Admissions Test or SAT plus interview; ESADE (Barcelona) selects in rounds from October with its own test, an essay and an interview. Both fill early.

Sciences Po

France

France’s elite school for politics and international affairs, with English-taught campuses in Reims, Le Havre and Menton and dual degrees with Columbia, Berkeley and UCL. There is no written exam; selection rests on grades, essays and an interview, which is exactly where mentoring counts. International applications close in early March, and dual degrees earlier.

The Nordics

Sweden and Finland

Sweden offers over one hundred English-taught bachelor’s degrees through a single national portal with a January deadline, and Finland’s January joint application covers hundreds more, often with entrance exams we can prepare you for. We advise honestly on where the Nordics do and do not make sense.

Also on our radar: selected English-taught options in Germany, Belgium, Denmark and beyond. If a destination is worth your attention, we will tell you; if it is not, we will tell you that too.
